A few minutes before finding and photographing my last posted image, I was looking for a setting full moon shot at Enfield Lookout. I got a bit waylaid as I rounded the curve at the State Police/DCR boat cove and looked out over the water and a view I have thought about but only just now managed to capture. I did not make it to the Lookout.
Once again, we can witness the low water levels revealing a bit more shore than would be normal. But I think the color and setting moon more than make up for the water’s edge.
In case you are curious, the boats are hidden behind the tree along the left side of the composition (as well as mostly framed out of view). Sneaky photographer.
Well played sir. I’ve used those methods myself of carefully hiding and exposing certain elements in a scene.
Yes, the water level looks low. We visited a local reservoir Sunday. It was high due to heavy rains two weeks ago.

Our weather pattern has been abysmal this year. When rain does enter New England, it always seems to go either north or south but rarely over us in any beneficial quantity.

The great colors must have made you happy.
I’ve heard of debating but you’ve perfected the art of deboating.

Just today, I hid some oilfield equipment behind a rock, and sent a John Deere combine skedaddling. Some tricks are easier to learn than others. 🙂

Unless they are hiding in plain sight. Sometimes we don’t see ’em until we process ’em. 🙂

Glorious colours. I am curious to know what is the role of the State Police in this area.

They play a part in protecting the resource as well as providing a diving team for various purposes. The Quabbin Visitor Center also houses one of the State Police barracks.

Nicely done, Steve. My eye goes right to the brighter strip of color, then around the circle of water, down the tree to the left and back around again. Great composition. Keeps me looking at the photo. Very nice.

Keeping the eye moving in an image is always a challenge. Thanks for letting me know that it works for you, Todd.

The wide view does a nice job of highlighting the gentle curve of that cove. Beautiful place. I hope you’ve had some nice rain over the last day or so.

We’ve had a bit of rain here and there, this afternoon included. A few days ago we had 1-2 inches of surprise snow. Our rains are being measured in tenths of an inch so not substantial but better than nothing.
