Some days I don’t post as I have nothing to say and don’t want to make a habit of posting and running. Certainly there is much to discuss and converse over these days whether on a wider view or just to the point of the image I am posting. But my brain at times will just get this block. It’s something I have always had going on…or off as it may be.
A funny story…Before I was married I would often go to clubs/bars to hear music and, despite being terribly shy as well as hard up for palaver, with the hopes of meeting someone. One night I was at the now defunct by fire Rusty Nail in Sunderland, MA and, during a band break, walked over to sit on a bench. The was no one sitting on either side of me for at least 15 feet. A nice and attractive young woman walked over and sat next to me. Not 6 feet away, but next. Well, being the chatterbox that I am I did not manage to even mumble a word. Not hello, not nice band, not you smell nice, not anything. Of course, she didn’t either (maybe I didn’t smell nice) but since she took the first step it was up to me and I became dumb as could be. This went on for a few minutes before she decided she had better things to do. Maybe it was for the best I said nothing. I was once so awed by another young woman that when she asked what time it was I answered before swallowing the mouthful of Coke I had just sipped. I was one heck of an embarrassment machine.
Anyway, the point is that I sometimes I have nothing to say. Thus a Wordless Wednesday or, in this case, a Silent Sunday. The other half of the equation, as is evidenced by all this unsilence, is that once you do get me talking it is hard to shut me up. Tough choice. 😉
Actually this was yesterday (Saturday) in North Quabbin. You may recognize that sand bar. The water level has dropped significantly since then as we have had almost no rain still. Hermine was supposed to bring us some tomorrow but that looks like another close miss.
So that’s my silent treatment. Imagine me when I am more talkative. 🙂

Sure, it is. Not for prolonged periods, of course. But I have found during my life, and obviously it has been made famous by many others including Mr. Franklin, that I am better off letting my silence cause others to think me a fool than speaking and confirming it. 🙂

I think the photo speaks volumes. I find dogs encourage dialogue with strangers. Lulu is always popular. OOooooh. What a lovely cat….. Usually solicits a snarl from Lulu and contempt from me. Never fails.

Most everything is better with a dog, Andrew. Unfortunately, Quabbin is not dog friendly. How could anyone mistake the Divine Miss Lulu for a cat?

Well, you certainly weren’t lost for words today. 🙂 Have you ever tried being silent for an entire Sunday or wordless for a Wednesday. I think it must be quite difficult. At boarding school we would occasionally send a person to Coventry (give them the silent treatment) but our mean actions didn’t last very long because the desire to talk was always greater than the desire to be uncommunicative.

I think I could do that easily without even having to put my mind to it, Ann. My wife experiences my silence during dinner regularly. She’s actually thrilled when I remark on the hot weather or lack of rain. 🙂

Unfortunately, this sandbar and all islands are no trespassing areas despite the now visible land bridge. Also unfortunately, there are lots of foot prints indicating that people are not paying attention to the rules.
