08.02.2016 More Surface Tension

The white water lily flower exhibited a bit of surface tension at the end of one petal.  Here is a water lily pad that is giving two great examples of that phenomenon.

I found two pads like this with the water amulet held at the center. I was just totally taken by the beauty inside and out with the collected water in the center and the slightly rippled effect around the edge of the leaf.

Just lovely. I see molten glass. It reminds me very much of some oriental sculptures I’ve seen.

  3. Beautiful clarity, light, and composition. Such a crispness here, but also a golden warmth and glow at the same time. Very soothing to contemplate.

  6. The dictionary that I looked in defines amulet as “an ornament or small piece of jewelry thought to give protection against evil, danger, or disease.” Let’s hope the liquid jewel does that for you.

The leaf has the heaviness and sheen of a good satin — making it the perfect foil for the jewel that others have seen. I’m especially taken with the way the weight of the water inside has depressed the center of the leaf just a bit, allowing the light to shine more brightly around its edges.

  8. Very interesting photo. Looks almost abstract to me. Beautiful effect with the water so dark.
