Many of the brooks I visit have multiple opportunities for compositions. Sometimes it is just the level of flow changing, but most of the time it is different rocky features in the water that create new views. Yesterday I walked further upstream at Dean Brook than I have previously and found another very nice spot to photograph. It is pretty easy to revisit favorite spots that continue to offer up pleasing sights, but even more rewarding to find new ones. And it didn’t hurt to find some Painted Trilliums, but those will show up later. For today, here is a small waterfall, still and video.

Like you, I’m happy whenever I discover a new part of a familiar place. Sometimes the find occurs years after the initial visit.

That’s especially true of this location, Steve, and there are still sections of other brooks that I visit that I need to “discover”.

I believe this might be my favorite of your “furry falls” photos. What makes it special for me is the central, thread-like cascade that serves quite nicely as a transition between the placid water above and the smoothed-out splashing below. Actually, those parallel flows, separated by the rock, are nice, too. It’s an interesting photo: one that demands longer and closer inspection.

I am glad that you see all that in the image, Linda. As I approached this spot, I could hear the water from a distance and felt it was a special feature. I was glad that I had my knee high boots so I could get in just the right position. Aside from the sense of movement that the cascade gives, I liked the way it curved around the rock I also enjoy when there is a combination of structured water along with some soft velvety texture both of which contrast with the solid rock. The warm reflection on the calm pool is a bonus. Thanks!
