The forecast for the last few days called for some overnight snow and, what do you know, they got it right. We just received an inch or so, but to the east the amount was higher. With that in mind, I headed to Petersham which is to our northeast a bit and did find another inch. It was still falling lightly and I was hopeful of finding frosted evergreens along the Quabbin shoreline inside of Gate 37.
Whaddya know…just the way I visualized it as I left the house. A touch of fog with the distant land fading and a nice reflection.
As I hiked in, there was not a footprint of any kind to be seen. No birds, no foxes, no coyotes, no bears, no mices, no mooses…well, you get the idea. Most of the snow has already melted, so the evidence will be gone by tomorrow. Good thing I got a picture to prove it happened. 🙂
It was a fortuitous start to your day.

It sure felt that way, Jim.

Really, really, nice. The post I’m working on at the moment also provides evidence that winter is not quite gone … yet.

I’ve photographed a lot of snow and ice during March, but I am thinking it’s done for the year here. Maybe a little frost on occasion.

Even though it was a come-and-go snow, it’s lovely. Snow that’s pretty but doesn’t require shoveling has a lot to recommend it: as does your photo.

I would have liked having a bit more shovelable/snowblowerable snow this winter, but at this point I was quite happy with exactly what we received. Thanks, Linda.

It does look very lovely and it’s a stunning scene though I suspect you are fed up of winter now. If it’s any consolation, we’ve just had a hailstorm and the weather tomorrow is more rain 😦

I try not to take comfort in others having it worse than I, but I will admit, your weather sounds yucky and I am glad that we are not all mud, Lottie. I am not sure I am fed up since we hardly had winter at all. But having said that, I am quite ready for an early spring for sure. I hope your weather gets itself straightened out so you can enjoy the outdoors a bit. Plus I would guess that rain and mud aren’t very helpful with your renovations.

This reminds me of an infrared photograph.

I thought that also, but it isn’t.
