First off a disclaimer. I forgot to make a video. I’ll try to remember next time.
I’ve been to Briggs Brook several times over the last few years. It’s got many attractive cascades, but I always wanted to shoot this waterfall. In the past it was filled with fallen branches and trees such as the one draped over it currently. In this case it adds a little something where in the past it was just a jumble. And, at this time, there is actually water rushing. The last few years the water has been low.

Nice. Not so ‘cold’ looking. Spring must be just around the corner. It had better be … I’ve only got 2 or 3 wheelbarrow-loads of wood to go.

Nope, not so cold at all. My fingers actually did not freeze for a change. By the time I walked out of the woods it was 40°.
We are due for a few cold nights later this week but things are warming up. March is coming in like a lamb though, so you might want to find a couple more loads from a friendly neighbor with a surplus. We haven’t gone through nearly as much as we usually burn, so there is a good start already towards next years fuel plus I have a cord or two from a downed maple yet to split.
I’ll be giving the blueberries a pruning soon.

Do I see a little ice clinging to a few spots? Very nice scene.
Today we had 62˚. Then, the winds turned NW and dropped the temps by 20˚ in a short time. Tomorrow should be ok before a midweek storm glides through.

Yep, we still have some icicles in places and there were plenty in other spots. After 50° today I imagine most will be gone or greatly diminished by tomorrow morning after a night above freezing. We’ll return to more seasonable temperatures by week’s end.

The brook scene (seen) in greener days is more appealing to my eyes. Either way, the water looks wonderful, and I wish we had more of it here.

I am anticipating those greener days so agree totally, Ann. I’ve got another image of this falls that may get posted here in Black and White which focuses more on the water and less on the woods.

I love that long, vertical fall. It’s fun to trace the water stream as it spreads and glides over the rocks.
Speaking of water and rocks, look at this, from the Houston Asia Society exhibit called “Drawn from Nature.” Sitting in front of it, we couldn’t figure out how the pebbles were falling onto the bamboo and wires, and making the lovely sounds. It’s so simple! From the exhibit catalog:
“Mineko Grimmer’s sculptural sound installations position pebbles frozen with water into forms above wire and wood sculptures. As time passes in the gallery, the frozen mass slowly melts and the small stones fall upon the sculptures below, creating a visceral connection with the sounds of nature. ”
You would have loved it.

I think I would, Linda. So unique and imaginative. Although that is something real and this is something computer generated, his installation reminds me of this video and similar by Animusic.
