When I awoke at 4 this morning it was 55°. Oh yeah, pretty much your average New England morning in the second month of the year. Anyhoo, since it is so warm I thought I’d share a couple of green guys for a smile or two. Who can’t smile seeing a frog. Yeah, they look pretty stoic, but inside you just know there’s a party goin’ on. 🙂
I hope that brings a smile or two. It’s almost the weekend. 🙂
You must be some sort of Frog Whisperer to be able to get so close!

With these guys, it just takes being there early when it is on the cool side and they are a bit lethargic as well as approaching slowly and on their level. From above signals predator.

Green, green, green. How obliging of these froggies to hold still and let you get so close.

Sometimes they are quite jumpy, especially the smaller ones. If the morning air is cool it takes too much energy to stay warmish, so they are slower to leap away.

Thanks for this, Steve. These party frogs were the perfect antidote for insomnia 🙂

It’s a little late for my reply to help with your sleep, but maybe next time count frogs playing at leaping, Melissa. 🙂

Good idea, Steve. It is an ongoing thing, so I’ll bear it in mind and it will bring a smile for sure. Actually, I discovered I was allergic to the material my bed was made from and was having trouble breathing, so I’ve got a new bed now. Still might not sleep but at least I’ll be able to breathe 🙂

They really are quite green, pretty much just as green as a green frog. Thanks, Carol.

They are beauties – and to think there’s a stoic party going on inside there just makes it better.

There’s no party like a frog party.

Reminds me of this song from my ancient past.
There’s a little green frog swimming in the water
A little green frog, doing what he oughter
He jumped right off of the lily pad
That the little duck bit and he said, “I’m glad
I’m a little green frog swimming in the water
Glump glug, glump glug, glump glug glug”

A party? You bet. I can hear the music:
“Green, green, it’s green they say, on the far side of the rill;
Green green, I’m goin’ away to where the pond is greener still…”

I remember that song and the group but would not have made the connection. Thanks. Obviously, given the subject matter, I have a different song in mind.

Oh, it definitely is too early, Gin. These are from summers past. Just something to “green” up the winter blues.

Thanks, Yvonne. I never tire of making them. 🙂 But it will be a few months yet before I can start new ones. They’re still sleeping in the muddy depths.
