01.11.2016 Murphy Falls with more water than I’ve seen in a while

I guess the title covers it all.

Murphy-Falls-011116-960WebWe received a fair amount of wetness yesterday and the flow in Dean Brook was better than I have seen in quite a while.  That’s nice for now, but we need snow, snow and more snow so the spring run off will be as full.

  2. You’ve captured water flow to the degree that one can almost become dizzy by looking too long at the lower-right corner. Talk about movement, racing across the page! Nicely done. We too had lots of rain (and thunder and lightening) last night. The temperature then dropped 20 degrees and everything that had thawed became solid once again. There’s snow drifting down as I write this reply.

  3. Something amazing about a river or stream that gains strength from the rain…It has truly been one of our wetter falls and winters.

  4. Love this one, as well, Steve! Is snow predicted at all for your area? We’re finally getting some much needed rain out here (California), but for many areas, it will probably be too much and then here come the floods.

    • Thanks, I.K. Yes it was and we did receive a very small amount…maybe an inch. There is the possibility of more this weekend although rain may be mixed in there somewhere. For you folks it is often like that-too much or not enough. Parts of New England had serious flooding last year but it isn’t the norm for us.

  5. I’ve mentioned it before, but I still can’t shake the notion that Dean Brook is a person.

I laughed at Steve’s comment about Dean Brook being a person. I always think of it as an investment firm. I’m certainly glad you invest the time you do in these photos. I’m really fond of this view, with the rocks on the side to “ground” the water a bit.

    • It’s an easy investment to make and is actually more an escape. The last few times the rocks were more dominating but with this nice heavy flow the balance is much better. I am hoping for snow this weekend as mentioned to I.K. above so I can have very dark water contrasting with a very bright land surrounding it.
