10.09.2015 Red Maple Leaf

Mary Beth and I have a routine when at Acadia.  I get up early and she sleeps late.    🙂

After I am done around mid-morning I will return to pick her up at our cottage and then we’ll hike or walk around Bar Harbor and visit the little shops.

This image was seen along the Long Pond Carriage Path on 9/27.  There wasn’t much change in the foliage yet, but a few trees were developing color and at least one leaf had hit the ground.

  1. I find it an effective photograph, especially because of all those little green asterisks. In my experience, your image is unique.

I wondered if those green starbursts might be pine seedlings. They look rather like Scotch pine. On the other hand, there are a tremendous lot of them, so they might be something else. They’re quite appealing, even if they did rouse memories of certain 1950s formica patterns.

    • Oh, that hurt my eyes. I do remember those Formica patterns all too well. Although not pink, I assembled and delivered many dining sets with those gaudy Formica tops. At least, gaudy to me…maybe there are people who enjoy them.
The starbursts are a variety of sphagnum moss.

  4. Let me be frank and earnest here. 🙂 This photo is not just a little something. I find it colorful, unusual, and I’m so glad that you photographed the one red leaf. Beautiful in so many ways.

  5. Love how this beautiful red leaf is surrounded by green. Caught my eye and held it.

Works well all the way around. It’s not ordinary for around here.
