A very nice image to send us off from HK though sadly not to Quabbin.

Now that would be a fine surprise, Andrew. Sadly maybe, but I’d be pretty happy to be returning to your lovely home. I am sure hundreds of moths are waiting with open wings. 🙂

I do enjoy your painterly images. The light here is fabulous.

Thanks, Linda. This is an example of what can happen when we look behind us, or in this case beside, to observe. I was tuned in to the sunrise and was delighted to see the light playing on the shoreline and especially the one tree trunk showing through the foliage at the left.

Painterly photography is all right by me.
Your use of the word shoreline reminded me of Eric Andersen’s song “Blue River,” the chorus of which says:
Blue river keep right on rollin’,
All along the shoreline.
Keep us safe from the deep
And the dark:
We don’t want to stray too far.
If you’re not familiar with the song, you can hear Eric Andersen sing it (with Joni Mitchell as counter-voice in the choruses) at:

Although I am aware of Eric Andersen, I believe this is the first I’ve actually listened. Thanks.

I love this image and for some reason I like it better than the falls. I suppose because it’s more open and has more light. But maybe it’s the curve of the shoreline or all of those elements.

It probably has to do with all those reasons, Yvonne. I am happy you like it for whatever reasons work for you. I am usually the most enamored with the image made most recently. 🙂

This is just wonderful, Steve. I’m relaxing into it, wordlessly 🙂

That’s great, Melissa. 🙂 I haven’t been back there since this image was made. Maybe I’ll check it out for the full moon on the 31st.
