From further back with a wider view showing some of the Wahconah Falls Brook leading away from the falls. If I get out there again, I may try to get to the other side so I can place the downstream flow in better line with the falls, but I like this view just the way it is. The potential problem with being on the other side is the rocks obstructing the view of the falls. If I had the youthful disdain for my well being, the place to be would fall 🙂 somewhere in the middle of the brook on some slippery rocks.
From this distance you can see a bit of the mist being thrown by the falling/crashing water.
Fabulous Steve. Love the way the trees seem to envelope the falls. Great colors.

Thanks, James. It is really a very nice site to visit. New England Waterfalls and Waterfalls of the Northeastern Untied States rate it fairly high. Usually at this time of the year the water is just a trickle.

That looks quite fast flowing Steve. How deep is the water?

Of course it varies by the amount and size of the rocks, but in some places hip deep and in others ankle. As I mentioned to James above, usually at this time of the year the water is not nearly as active or in such a large volume.
Are you in flight yet?

While “the place to be would fall somewhere in the middle of the brook on some slippery rocks,” there’s also the risk that you would fall somewhere in the middle of the brook on some slippery rocks.

You left out the part where I acknowledge that. The days of my risking severe harm to life and limb are in my distant past. I move very slowly and am quite cautious even in the shallowest of water now. Just falling is something I am avoiding like the plague.

I’m pretty careful now too, at least as much for the sake of my camera equipment as for my own sake.

I have insurance for both the equipment and myself but I don’t really want the bump on the noggin and the time without the camera would be painful as well.

That would be a good place to explore. It looks cool and refreshing. It must sound good, too.

Correct on all counts, Jim. The sound is loud enough to drown out all other sounds.

That was perfect. Thanks.

Great looking falls and a lovely photograph. As Steve S wrote in a comment above, you could be in the middle and fall on those slippery rocks and then the falls would only be a dream or a nightmare, depending on your perspective should be able to crawl or scramble off the rocks. And, I’m so glad that you have the sense not to get in that stream.

It’s taken a few decades, but I have finally developed a tiny bit of common sense, Yvonne. 🙂 I do get out in the middle, but in times of very low flow when the rocks have dried off. Thanks.
