We are due for some serious rain tomorrow so I wanted to be sure to get out today. But for some reason I couldn’t fall asleep last night and felt pretty hammered when waking this morning a little before 4. But I got out anyway and am paying for it this afternoon. I’ll catch up tomorrow morning to the sound of steady showers.
Here is what made it all worthwhile.

You must be very pleased with these, Steve. They are among your very best! I can sympathize with you…I got up at 3 this morning to take my brother to the airport and really couldn’t sleep before hand although I tried. It will feel lovely to sleep tonight.

Thanks, Melissa. I am pleased with them and with having witnessed not only this wonderful sunrise but also the encouraging week we have had.
When I have a specific early rise ahead of me I have a difficult time sleeping as did you. Most often it is just fitful but some times there is no sleep…just tossing.

Two gorgeous images Steve. Hope you get a good night’s sleep tonight.

Thanks, Rod. I have done my best to lay the groundwork. Lots of exercise, no afternoon nap and some cheese and crackers as a pre-sleep snack. Now I also have the sound of light showers for a lullaby. 🙂

Those were totally worth dragging out early for!

Thanks, Gail. Absolutely…especially with today being an opportunity to rest up. I hope all this rain we are getting offers up a few nice cascades tomorrow.

I’d say your pre-4-AM-rising was worth the trouble. Happy (I hope) rain tomorrow.

Happy rain today indeed. Just the kind…so far…that we need. Prolonged steady rain that should soak in and replenish the ponds, brooks and streams.
It was worth it for sure, but I was not good for much…even less than usual…the rest of the day.

My sleep pattern is all to blazes but I haven’t got any decent photos to offset it. These are rather splendid Steve.

Thanks. I would imagine it would be, Andrew. And you have a repeat of adjustment to look forward to upon your return. 😦

You do have the most astounding sunrises. Our sunsets can be equally nice, but I don’t have the clear horizon to work with. It’s my view and I love it, but if the color isn’t high enough in the sky, I have to include NASA, the Hilton, assorted antennae and a forest of sailboat masts.
These remind me of the phrase I love so much from a Kansas group’s song: the clean curve of hill against sky. Yours are beautiful — I’m so glad you share them.

Thanks, Linda. I am glad you are enjoying them. For the longest time it seemed that I wasn’t getting to witness these sunrises. Most often I would be greeted by a thick bank of clouds on the horizon that blocked the sun. I’ve been more fortunate lately.
Sunrises with sailboat masts are quite popular subjects with many folks.

What can I say except that these are beautiful. We just don’t have these kind of scenes where I live. I enjoyed seeing these immensely.

I am happy that you enjoyed these, Yvonne. As I mentioned to Linda above, there are long stretches when I don’t get to see them either.
