This is a green frog…yep, it is green and it is a green frog (Lithobates clamitans). 🙂
Now, there’s a smile for the morning. He looks so alert, like he’s ready to jump right into the day.

I think he was comfortable in the knowledge that I was kneeling on poison ivy and wasn’t about to come much closer. Quite an accommodating little fellow who definitely gave me a smile. It’s nice to be green.
Kermit and Ray tell it. https://youtu.be/w5rceMe-kt4
I can never resist a good frog!
Me either, Jackson.
I like this “prince” of a frog. So handsome and you captured him in a regal pose. 🙂
I hadn’t thought of it, but he does seem rather princely.
A commendable portrait, Steve. One can certainly get lost in those amazing eyes!
Thanks, Gary. For some reason, I am finding the view of the belly most rewarding as I generally find greens in the water. But when choosing a point for focus I always make sure the eyes are sharp. I got lucky in being able to get parallel with the entire body.
Another beauty. There’s almost a jewel like quality to him, the colours and patterns are superb.
I’ve found a few frogs over the years that are in less than pristine surroundings, but in this state they are quite lovely, even princely. 🙂 Thanks, Lottie.
Perhaps a new exercise regime is needed. A mild paunch, Mr Frog.
Nah, it’s just a frog squat paunch. Goes away with the leap.
When I was a kid a new frog came to our pond. We’d had bullfrogs aplenty, but this one was a little smaller. As the family naturalist I was tasked with identifying the new beastie. My dad teased me mercilessly when I announced it was a green frog. I have been disappointed with them ever since.
Yeah, “Green Frog”. 🙂
I shared this on one of Steve’s posts a while back so maybe you saw it. But if not…
Marvelous! I hadn’t seen that before. I’ll be chuckling over that all day now 🙂
