After making the image of the Yellow Lady’s Slipper the other day, I found this nice pair of Pink Lady’s Slippers (Cypripdium acaule). They are more abundant here but also not as easily isolated. This pair made it a bit easier.
I liked the deep color and strong markings of these and wanted an image of just one, so I used a small stick to get the one on the left to ease to the side and made this image.
I am also happy to report that I did remember to remove the stick so the one could spring back where it belonged.
So lovely, aren’t they? I haven’t seen this in the wild yet. I hope one day. Love your photos of it.

Yes, but I think that you are able to find several ohers that I don’t get to see here. Thanks, Melissa.

Really nice to have them side by side. How large are they?
Today I got out before 8 for a round of golf. No one was ahead or behind. It was nice to have the course to myself. I drove the ball down the fairway on hole #6, got into the cart, and headed down the paved path. Ahead I could see a baby robin exactly where my left wheels would go. I slowed, swerved, and stopped. It would have been squashed. It didn’t budge until I waved my arm and told it to not be so stupid. Then it waddled to the side and stopped.

They are about the size of a large egg, Jim. The yellows the other day were about the same size.
Those wild and crazy baby robins…probably trying to make you crash the cart. I haven’t golfed in years and never alone like that. Seems risky. You never know when a sliced ricochet will conk you.

Someone would eventually come along and pick me up. Or, play around me as a natural hazard. There is probably a rule for that. 🙂

Thanks, Bernie. They are such lovely and delicate flowers and maybe seem that way even more to you now. I am glad that you are out there enjoying nature.

We could say that in this instance you were a stickler for separation.

About six degrees most likely.

I think the difference in height between the two flowers in the first photo adds a good bit. Even if they’d been the same height, it wouldn’t have made for such an interesting portrait. As it is, they’re like siblings in a family photo.
Your title (pinks get their due) reminded me sibling squabbles, too. “Do too!” “Do not!”

Siblings is a good analogy, Linda. I love finding the large families. I have on occasion happened across clumps of seven or eight. The group shots are not as easy to arrange.
What is the world coming to…squabbling orchids!
