Here is a close look at an almost opened American Trout Lily (Erythronium americanum) from a few weeks back.
Tonight starts 10 days off from work to photograph wildflowers and cascading water…I hope. Maybe a few other subjects as well. 🙂
Have a good time in the next 10 days. May you be blessed with good weather.

Thanks, Jim. I am not going anywhere distant. The forecast has some questionable days, but not too bad…and we need rain so I will allow it to gives us some downpours at night. 🙂
Beautiful study of the Trout Lily Steve. Have a great ten days.
Thanks, Rod. The first two have been very nice.
This is a dilly of a lily, Steve 🙂 Absolutely lovely. Have a great 10 days!
Thanks, Melissa. I like that and will use it in a future post..with full attribution, of course. . 🙂
Glad you like it 🙂
As usual, you managed to get a lot in focus, which is hard to do when you’re so close.
I got wet knees and a soaked belly in the process, but well worth it, Steve. Thanks.
Really pretty pic of the trout lily. It is much showier than the trout lilies where I live. It’s nice to learn that you will have some time to devote to snapping away.
Thank you, Yvonne. I plan on getting some shooting in every day…weather permitting.
Very nice details in the petals 🙂
Thank you, Gin. Someone mentioned on another posted image that she didn’t realize the petals had lines. I’m happy to be able to show them in a picture.
Such a special image…Something really gorgeous to see, something amazing to think about.
Thanks, Charlie. The closer we get to nature the more wonderment there is to experience.
I especially like the way the lavender in the petals ties together with the lavender and green background. Whether you worked for that (as I suspect) or it was happenstance, it’s beautiful.
I hope your subjects didn’t get their little petals nipped. A friend in NY state saw 28F a couple of nights ago, and I saw that frost warnings edged right up to you. Here’s to more sunshine and warmth, both for you and for your subjects!
The lavender in the background was noticed but not planned at first. After a test shot I liked it and made sure it was included. Thanks.
We just missed a frost the last few days, Linda. We had one morning with 34° but the frost didn’t materialize because of the gentle breeze. The next week is going to be a warm one with the possibility of some showers during the afternoon on a few days.
