The Murph knows how to relax.
Murphy’s diet has changed a bit. The ground kibble isn’t agreeing with him, so this morning he had a nice scrambled egg with rice. His other meals are of finely chopped chicken and rice warmed slightly before serving. 😎

Bless him 🙂 he looks so cosy snuggled up on your bed. I love that you make him special food, and I’m sure that he really appreciates it. Warm too! Pete came in to the kitchen earlier and asked what I was doing ‘Oh, just making something nice for the canaries and their chicks’ as for young Mr Snout – he’s so well fed that he’s looking decidly corpulent these days, just like his mistress.

Oh yeah, he does appreciate it but “C’mon…get a move on and get that food down where I can get at it” is pretty much what I am hearing from him. I’ll have to try to do a video of his little leap in the air as I put the bowl on the floor. 🙂

While our dogs were a regular part of our lives, I’d do anything for them. It’s wonderful to know that some others will do the same. Their time with us is so brief!

Very true, Gary. I don’t remember if you were visiting the blog when I posted this, but we know our time with Murphy will be short as he was given a cancer diagnosis last October. He has beaten the odds to make it this far and we hope for much more time with him but we also realize things could go badly at any time. Even without that prognosis, he has always been treated like a prince here. Everywhere is his place and when I get into bed at night I enjoy his sleeping next to me and will miss him terribly when the time comes. We have always treated our dogs like our child, but Murphy had a difficult start to life and that makes him even more special to us.

I checked with Murphy and told him that a certain lovely across the sea might be interested in sharing dinner with him from a distance. He responded with a resounding “Aroooooo!”, Andrew. There aren’t many doggies with whom he would share his supper. 🙂

Murphy looks really good to have that big C hanging over his head. I’m glad that Mary Beth cooks his meals. It’s so much better than regular dog food. Can he or would he eat a few vegetables thrown in the mix such as cooked sweet potato or carrots and even a tad of celery?

He does look good, doesn’t he? And, ahem……I cook the eggs and rice. 😉
But Mary Beth prepares our dinner most evenings and, when making the salad, gives Murphy thin pieces of carrot and cooked broccoli. Occasionally he gets a few pieces of sweet red pepper. I hadn’t thought of the sweet potato. Thanks for suggesting that, Yvonne.

You’re welcome. The more wholesome foods he consumes the better his chances of living longer. Research turmeric or concumin (sp). Some things are anti cancer and help boost the immune system.

One of my friends has an asparagus-stealing dog. If it’s in the house and not locked up, he’ll eat an entire bunch. And yes, he does look good. He certainly has mastered that “I’m just a little sad, but if you’d pay me a bit more attention I’d be happier” look!
