I was driving by Atkins Reservoir here in my little home town when some bright colors between some trees caught my eye. We’re all attracted to bright shiny stuff and this got me. The first temptation when we see something like this is to run to the edge of the water…or in my case, stumble…and fill the frame. Again that ol’ in your face thing. But framing it within the trees seems to be more pleasing…in the context and all. The added mist on the water hovering over the reflection completes the scene. I hope you like this.
Our color is fading fast now. This morning I saw mostly warmly lit browns in the Quabbin Valley. Frost season approaches. 🙂

Ooooh, me first me first! Everything about this one is fabulous; you have all the elements—-earth, air, water, and fire (reds). Keen! It’s a very layered photo w/ the foreground, water, trees, and sky making for a very nice layer cake of nature. (I know, why is it always cake with me? I am working on that). Side frame of trees, and best of all the misty effect. Altogether, fantastic as per your usual work.
This one would make a great puzzle…….just try to find all those misty pieces in the middle….arrghh! 🙂

Thanks, Lyle. The thrill of the moment sometimes gets in the way of thoughtful response. If we have the time the scene can be explored many ways, but with special light/animal behavior we have to think fast, don’t we?

Steve: have you considered arranging photo tours and giving instruction on landscape photography – Maybe you could find a bed and breakfast partner nearby. I am sure with your talent and knowledge of the area you would be a big hit.

Thanks for the encouragement, Rod. It is something I have thought about, but I am not much of a teacher and am not consistent enough with my subject access. And I have the propensity to misspeak. 🙂 I am able to correct myself in print but just seem to utter things incorrectly in person.
