I found these along Gate 52 in the Quabbin Park area. I’m told they are not that often seen in our area, so I was very fortunate to find them in this rotting tree that has since fallen during our recent storms. As I mentioned in a few other venues, these remind me of Cousin Itt from the Addams Family. 🙂

Part way up the truck was a small opening with this nice vignette.
But down at ground level was the real colony helping to return the tree to the soil.
Super detail and fine composition in the closeup, and a neat macro scene in the other image. Great to see an image from you…

Thanks Tom. Yeah, I have been absent from NSN but only because I have done almost no shooting in a while. I’ll be back.

Oh, I like these, Stephen. I find the second to be quite interesting with the variety of mushrooms in that spot. What a cool place to photograph.
Hope you have a very merry Christmas!

A nice little find and good photographs. Pardon me for this, you can feel free to delete or deride the following poor, sad attempt at a joke, but I can’t help asking, since they are Hare’s Feet, would this be considered wildlife photography?

🙂 Why would I delete that? Actually, David, you are not that far off as some consider fungi to be more closely related to animals than plants….as hard to imagine as that seems though.
