02.20.2011 Fun with Nik Silver Efex Pro

A piece of software I picked up last year is Nik’s Silver Efex Pro for black and white conversions as a plug in for Photoshop.  It is just a super piece of engineering and makes B&W an exciting process.

Here’s something that was just for fun, allowing one to create the look of old time darkroom work.  There are many options within the program, including this one which is a combination of both Antique Plate I & II.

Mount Ram seen from Enfield Look Out at Quabbin Park.Of course, when images were being shot and processed in dark rooms like this, the Quabbin was non-existent and people actually lived in the hills.  But I think the nostalgic feel to this treatment works.

Handsome-looking image – nice contrast of the light foliage in the foreground with the darker hill in the back. Nice sky as well.
