10.19.10 Some views of Mount Katahdin

Here are a few looks at Mount Katahdin from a recent trip to Maine.  I went hoping for a nice view, but was lucky to find several.

Please be sure to click on the image for a larger view.

Along the Golden Road there are several views.  This is from Compass Pond.

A little further along the road is Abol Bridge.  Usually there are boats and tents at the camp ground at the right side, but at this time they were closed for the season.

Around the bend of the Penobscot River is Abol Falls which affords another nice look at the mountain.

There are many areas in Maine that are so remote, one could sit there all day, or even all week, and probably not see another human.  This shot was taken in a secret spot found by a friend.

My last morning there, I wanted to try to get a shot of the warm morning light shining just on Katahdin at one of my favorite views…Sunday Pond..  No luck.  But for a short time, the sky was lit up with some wonderful dawn color.  It only lasted a few minutes before the clouds filled the sky.
