5.25.10 Taking the time to notice things.

Often I get asked how I see some of the insects I find in the woods. I don’t have exceptional vision by any means. But we are tuned into what our interest may be and, for me, I’m looking for alterations in the basic patterns of tree bark, leaf venation and other changes in shape and color. I miss a lot for sure, but taking the time to look can yield opportunities others might walk right by.

This Little White Lichen Moth was tucked in a crevice in some Maple bark.  I would usually use my diffuser as it was in the direct sun, but this time I decided to use the early sun and reflect the light into the shadows.
