I didn’t get out this morning so no new images. We went to Monson to pick up my lotus print (honorable mention) and now I am taking a break from yard clean up.
Here is another view from last Monday…a few minutes prior to my previous sunrise posting on the 14th from Gate 5. Similar but different…..or different but similar if you prefer. 🙂
That’s also fantastic.

Whichever way you say it Steve, splendiferous says I. 🙂 A sky to die for (though I’d rather not, yet!!!). xPenx

Thank you, Pen. I like your way with words. 🙂 No, please don’t..I’d rather it was a sky to live for. 😀

That’s a nice act of amelioration, Steve. I think we should rewrite other negative sayings to make them positive too. For example, instead of “to kill two birds with one stone,” we can say “to shoot two birds in one photo.”

The photo looks like it was taken just before nightfall. But I’m sure i’ms mistaken. Just my idea and nothing more. Those limpid yellows, pinks, and blues are fantastic.
Honorable mention is good. If I had been judge you’d have gotten best of show or a blue ribbon- don’t know if there was a best of show at that particular event.

Thank you, Yvonne. If you ever get on an art jury in TX I will be sure to enter. 🙂 Yes, there was a best in show, but when photography is competing with the other art categories I am sure it would never take the top place.

When I entered my pics in the past, eons ago, there was a category just for photography and there was no competion from other art categories. I won Best in Show one time with a B&W pic of my Dad dressed in overalls sitting in a wicker chair with his little B&W mutt on his lap. They were facing the window and I used only natural light. I think I used my Bronica for that one. I’ll get around to getting that scanned to CD one day and post some it along with some of my best pet pics. That one pic remains my all time favorite which brings me to the question- do you have one, two, or three of your all time favorite pics?

There were several categories and each had a first prize, with a best in show spanning all.
The image of your dad sounds very nice, Yvonne. I hope you get it scanned so we can enjoy it along with you.
My favorite is usually whatever I just did. 🙂 I will have to pick a few for the hospital gallery in July though.

Oh the hospital gallery sounds fantastic. Choose very carefully. Remember- eye appeal, interesting or unique subject, and sometimes an emotional effect if you can get all that combined in one photo. 🙂 But I’m surprised that you have no over all favorite/s. 🙂

They are like my children, Yvonne. How could I pick a favorite. 🙂 Of course there are certain ones that stand out, but if I hit a good one today, that will stand out in my mind the most. It is funny. When I am out shooting and working on a shot, I do not even really remember the shot I did an hour earlier until I see it when I download my files. I just tune in to what I am working on and forget the rest.

Honourable mention is pretty good Steve. It’s only someone’s view and just to get in the frame is special. You should submit this one next time!

Yes, I am satisfied with HM although to be honest, the first place image left me at a loss. But it is very subjective and only one person was a photographer which could make a big difference overall. On to the hospital gallery next. 🙂

I’ve often had your reaction. Why certain things win is beyond me, even though I realize it all comes down to the preferences of the judge(s).

That’s the truth of it, Steve, and why I don’t usually enter contests.

Great to hear that your work is being seen in ‘real life’ on walls – The more peeps that can see your work the better. This shot that you’ve posted today is captivating, the colours are glorious. Any hint of a green background yet? 😀

Thanks, Lottie. I will be showing the images more. The lawns are greening up and the maples buds are swelling on the twig tips and showing red so we’re heading in the right direction although we did have a frost warning last night. More signs of Spring to come this weekend. 😀
