I usually go to the ledges in Sunderland to find these growing at eye level. But getting them to sit still is pretty frustrating on a ledge. I knew these were also growing along the Spillway at Quabbin Park so looked for them there although the Spillway is usually a wind tunnel along with the traffic at close range. But yesterday they were pretty still although it was a fairly breezy day. Just the way things go sometimes.
Here’s one that had a nice horizontal orientation making for an easy pose to work with.
I have these only in my garden, but I guess this one is a wild flower. Nice photo!

Thank you for your comment Bente. Yes, this variety grows wild here. Our garden varieties are much more showy although the wild Columbine in the west, especially Colorado, are spectacular flowers.
Norway is a beautiful country. I especially liked your Reindeer migration photos. A good friend of mine was recently in Tromso for the Auroras.

I’m not all that into flower photography, but your flower close-ups are striking and well composed. This is the kind of flower photography that is worth looking at.

Thank you David. I am glad you found this to be enjoyable. Although we know each other as a result of the larger view of the landscape, the smaller details and organisms are more typical of what I photograph and I appreciate that you like my treatment of my subject.

Very nice, Steve. Your macro work always shines.
I have trouble with red flowers like this…I recently shot some Indian Paintbrush in Zion and the reds seem too intense. I guess that’s why I don’t shoot flowers all that often!

Thank you Greg. I’ve always heard that the 5D Mark II has trouble with reds, but for some reason my copy handles them well….or my raw files react to ACR well. Same with the yellows.
